Dr Gavin Bown

Gavin was awarded a PhD from Durham University and is currently completing an MBA. A former Oxford University Medical student (Christ Church), Gavin has not only successful passed an Oxford Medical interview but also has significant experience and expertise in advising current undergraduate students on both the university and commercial scientific environments.

After completing his PhD, Gavin joined Procter & Gamble as a Research and Development (R&D) manager on the graduate programme. He subsequently moved to Masterfoods (Mars) for 4 years, where he worked in manufacturing and R&D. He moved to Reckitt Benckiser plc in 2005, where he was a R&D manager within the Chemical Innovations group. In his current and previous roles, Gavin has worked extensively with the science departments of British and foreign universities in carrying out leading-edge scientific research applied to new product development in the consumer goods industry. He also currently manages the recruitment of staff to R&D, including the R&D Graduate Scheme and the recruitment of science undergraduates for "Year in Industry" placements. Gavin is now Head of Technology for R & D at Cadbury, where his is also responsible for Graduate recruitment.
